2017 Fall Stage Performance: THE WIZARD OF OZ

Saturday, October 21st LBC Talent and The Star Maker School presented an adaptation of the classic story, The Wizard of Oz at the theatre at Clinton Township Middle School in Clinton, NJ. Starring in the leading role made famous by Judy Garland in 1939, MGM musical fantasy film was newcomer, Bella DePaola, 15 of Flemington as Dorothy Gale.

“We’re off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz!”

Accompanying DePaola down the ‘yellow brick road’ was Ryan Apgar, 15 of Clinton (Evil Lives Here, Investigation Discovery) as the Scarecrow, Cameron Clifford, 17 of Flemington (Broadway; Billy Elliot, Waiting for Godot , Touring; Billy Elliot, Regional; First Wives Club, On Golden Pond) as the Tinman, Justin Lopez, 16 of Annandale (Sierra Trading Post, IKEA) as the Cowardly Lion and newcomer, Hudson Boarts, 4 of Pittstown as Toto.

Pam Dean (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Sneaky Pete for Amazon) of Annandale frightened even the strong of heart as the evil scheming; Wicked Witch of the West while Dar Calkin of Flemington worked her motherly magic as Glinda the Good Witch of the North. Newcomer, Brandon Dobranski, 17 of Somerville, played the all-powerful Wizard of Oz.

The 1900 children’s book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, conceived and written by L. Frank Baum was successfully adapted for the stage by Andrew Lloyd Webber who wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical. Leesa Csolak of Raritan Township (Madonna’s MDNA World Tour, The Hero at Lincoln Center) produced and directed this community rendition with co-direction and music by Dar Calkin of Flemington. Ross Brown of Manhattan (Grand Hotel, A Man of No Importance, Sweeney Todd, Les Mis, Parade) and Deborah Heagen Rizzo of lemington rounded out the vocal training team.

With choreography by Kevin Csolak (Broadway; Mean Girls, The Prom, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Off-Broadway; Cirque du Soleil’s Wintuk, Burnt Part Boys) and Aaron Parkhurst (42nd Street, White Christmas, Thoroughly Modern Millie, My One and Only), this show kept the audience's toes tappin’ and their hands clappin’.

Cast members hailing from throughout Central Jersey were; Paris Bozzuti (Gypsy Professor, U/S Dorothy), Emily Schnieder (Miss Gulch/Witches Sidekick), Grace Concoran (Aunt Em/Ensemble), Owen Tabor (Uncle Henry/Ensemble), Rachel Oddy (Student Assistant Choreographer/Guard/Ensemble) and Elizabeth Gavlick (Winkie Leader/Ensemble) with featured ensemble members; Jessica Schuhardt, Audrey Kreitner, Karis Mathias and Briana Krauchuenas and ensemble; Lila Pfefferle, Hailey DeStefano, Tyler Nelson, Alex Apgar, Antonio Monaco, Autumn Spanner, Avery Boarts, Kaitlin Milleli, Victoria Brynildsen, Luke Matteo, Sophia DeTorres, Cassandra Santiago, Emily Denis, Theresa Harvey, Jaime Myers, Masen Chen, Samantha Chen, Vanessa Mathias and Eliza Swon and featured dance ensemble; Rachel Oddy, Carolyn Chester, Kyleen Constant and Jillian French.

In June of 2015 our one-act presentation of Rock of Ages starred Andrew Plinio as Lonny and Jake Urban as Drew with Hannah Bonnett as Sherrie and John Paciga as Dennis Dupree.

Stacee Jaxx was played by Andrew Albanese with Kirsten Maiwaldt as Regina, Justin Lopez as Franz, Emily Decker as Justice Charlier, Gianna Porfano as Constance, Pam Dean as Helga Klineman.

The Mayor was Mark Dau, and the waitress was played by Jessie Dau. Cameos were played by Kevin Csolak as the manager, Paul and Megan Geick as the mugger. Adults in the show were; Dar Calkin, Deb Heagen, Maura Kraucheunas, Sue Dau, Noelle Detorres, John Paciga and George McGowan.

2014 Showcase Performance: PIPPIN

In June of 2014 our one-act presentation of Pippin starred Lilly Walsh as The Lead Player, Kevin Csolak as Pippin and Sarah Flaim as Catherine with Joe Walsh as Charlemagne, Dar Calkin as Bertha, Melissa Urban as Fastrada, Andrew Albanese as Lewis, Cameron Clifford as Theo and Andrew Plinio as featured Player.

The Players featured Rachel Allen and Kimmie Fivek with Avery Gebhardt, Katelyn Hughes, Lindsay Bohon and Alexandra Grina and Amy Allen, Emily Molter, Katie Piscotta, Melanie Sailer and Elizabeth Shi. Ensemble also included Emily Brown, Emily Decker, Kaitlin Marinelli, Rachel Oddy, Tori Young, Jake Urban, Mason Fleisher, Andrew Petrone, Lindsay Brewster, Isabella Gohill, Cierra Krouse, Hannah Perfetti, Olivia Tortorello and Michelle Dragun.
