WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OPEN MIC
· We change the dance room into a hip and trendy black box theatre.
· Professional lighting and sound equipment including compressor and reverb are used to enhance this semi-professional experience.
· At Star Maker we only use live music. Please no music tracks.
· We provide a pianist to accompany your singer or you can invite your own musicians to join us.
· You should provide your singer’s sheet music to the desk staff as soon as possible during the week prior to Open Mic.
· A 15 minute rehearsal lesson with the pianist is mandatory to perform. We do this so the singer and the pianist can review the flow of the song.
These rehearsal lessons are held earlier the day of Open Mic and or the day before in the afternoon and evening.
· Visit the home page at www.starmakerschool.com to register to perform at Open Mic
· All are welcome to perform at Open Mic. Preference will be given to those who are Star Maker vocal students.
· Open Mic generally lasts about 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on the number of performers.
· Family, friends and siblings are welcome to attend.
· All Open Mic performances are professionally videotaped.
If you anticipate having to leave the room during the performance please consider sitting in the back so as not to disturb taping.
· It is greatly appreciated if you consider bringing a case of water or snack food to share for intermission and the post show mingling.
· Unlike other venues, Star Maker does not charge you to participate in Open Mic. However we kindly ask you consider making a donation to the
Mary T. Bonnell High School Arts Scholarship Fund which awards a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from various area high schools.
