| Jerri Brown
Jerri Brown is in her thirteenth year with Star Maker and continues to grow her expertise in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz and lyrical dance. She graduated magna cum laude from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Business. She was a member of the MMC Dance Company where she performed in Off-Broadway productions. While studying in the city, Jerri taught at the 92nd Street Y and at The Neighborhood Playhouse in NYC. She is a certified group fitness instructor through the American Council of Exercise, the National-Dance-Exercise Instructor's Training Association, and Marymount Manhattan College. Jerri is also a certified Pilates Teacher through the Pilates Institute of America. For years, she was an instructor of aerobics and pilates for Johnson and Johnson and AT&T; corporate.
Miss Jerri directed, choreographed and performed in our first Ballet, The Sleeping Beauty, in June of 1999. In 2000, 2001, and 2003 she directed and choreographed, the ballets, Cinderella, The Nutcracker and Peter and the Wolf. In 2002 Jerri choreographed an original ballet, "The Business Man's Day Dream," and since then has written "Journey of a Gift" and "Common Variables". Most recently, Jerri has adapted movies into ballets with her productions of "Batman" and "Beauty and the Beast."
Jerri's expert choreography does not end with ballet. She has choreographed lyrical, tap and jazz for The Entertainers Dance Company members. Her routines have won many first place, platinum level and overall awards at Local, Regional and National competitions and has had many of her senior students go on to professional work. Jerri continues to be recognized by colleagues by receiving Teacher Awards for her choreography in both group and solo events. In addition, dancing lyrical with the Senior Company in 2001, Jerri and her students won the title of Top Teacher Group with Platinum status at Showstopper's Regional and National competitions in 2001.
Jerri has taught master classes for Hunterdon County Teen Arts, Acrodanse Theatre's Junior Dance Company Summer Camp Intensive and choreographed for the Amwell Community Children's Theatre productions "Sister Act" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat" as well as Flemington-Raritan Community Theatre's production of "Godspell." Most recently, Jerri was asked to serve as the choreographer for Freedom High School in Bethlehem Pennsylvania choreographing "Bye Bye Birdie" last spring. Her work earned her a nomination for Best Choreography at the Freddy Awards held at the Easton State Theatre. This summer she worked for Prestige Productions as a dance educator for the State Theatre's Acting Camp.
Jerri has judged and choreographed for dance competitions and worked with models for A Wish Come True, a costume catalog company that services dance studios across the
country. She continues to strengthen her skills by studying rhythm tap with Rochelle Haynes through the accredited tap organization, "Tap Ties". Additionally, she studies with master teachers each year at conventions such as Jump or Nuvo as well as Broadway Dance Center's Teacher Workshop and the New York City Tap Festival.
When Jerri's not teaching, she can be found relaxing at home in Pohatcong with her husband, Jarod and 1 year old daughter, Emily Kaylynn.
