The Star Maker School offers pre-school and beginner level programs that have been developed by director and owner, Leesa Csolak. With over 35 years in the performance education business and a degree in education, Csolak has set the local standard for teaching preschool and beginner children. She has taught her staff and many others to teach successfully the young dancer through the use of a comprehensive and progressive curriculum. The program is designed to keep the focus and interest of the young learner while teaching them techniques to leap ahead, all with fun, the priority. COMPREHESIVE CURRICULUM
Star Maker prides itself on offering the most comprehensive curriculum in Performing Arts in the Central Jersey area. We have students who hail from throughout the tri-state area. We also offer individual guidance for each and every student through personal conferencing and group seminars held throughout the year. These are offered to beginner thru advanced students of all ages and to parents of aspiring professional youth performers.

DANCE:
Our dance programs include recreational tracks as well as our prestigious competitive and professional training programs. Both group and private lessons are available in all dance areas.

MUSIC & VOICE:
Our music and voice programs include both group and private lessons. Depending on your focus and immediate or long-term goals we can offer a program right for you. We have expanded our music training programs this year to include group lessons in addition to our on-going private instruction schedule. We are proud to also have increased our staff to include professional teachers for all instrumental music and vocal training genres.

THEATRE/ACTING:
Our successful theatrical program has trained many children for amateur and professional performance for the past 20 years. Our students can be found performing in the local public schools in plays and musicals, in regional theatre, national tours and on Broadway as well as in Film, on TV and in national and cable commercials. Give your child the edge he or she needs to be the one who gets the role! Our classes are fun and build confidence and self-esteem.

 
PRE-SCHOOL SPECIALSTS

Our pre-dance programs have been developed over 35 years by director, Leesa Csolak. A fun and technique building program, its curriculum is progressive and proven to be successful in offering the young dancer the opportunity to develop fine and gross motor skills beyond the average. Students memorize a performance dance in either ballet or tap for participation in the annual recital.
  • Ballet/Tap I Pre-Program: Ages 3-4 and 5-6
  • Ballet/Tap II Pre-Program: Ages 4-6
  • Ballet/Tap III Pre-Program: Ages 5-7
  • Tiny Tot Company-Ages 5-6 Ballet, Tap and Jazz is taught in a two day, 1.5 hour per week program. By recommendation only. Conferences available for tracking to achieve company status.

ACROBATICS
Beginner and Advanced levels are offered in techniques including that of gymnastic floor exercise. An emphasis is placed on flexibility, strength and balance while learning acrobatic skills. Performance design includes both achieved acrobatics skills, dancing and acting.

BALLET
Students have the opportunity to perform in a storybook ballet or perform in an original ballet every other year. These are done at our annual recital in the Spring.
Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes teach proper technique and placement and offer the student a continuous opportunity to grow.
Ballet Pointe and Pre-Pointe offer technique and proper placement with an emphasis on Pointe work for the most serious student. By recommendation only.

BATON
Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced offers baton technique in combination with dance techniques. A progressive curriculum teaches students proper NBTA, USTA and AAU technical baton skills.

JAZZ
Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes learn technique in Jazz with a warm-up, center work, turns, across the floor combinations, and center combos. Jazz classes explore various styles including the popular HipHop, classical Theatre Jazz and Jazz/Funk.

LYRICAL
This style of Jazz is offered to the student interested in a more interpretive style of movement. Class offers ballet techniques and relates them to both Jazz and Modern styles. Performance routines are done to dramatic ballad style musical selections.

TAP
Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes teach basic theatre style Tap with an integration of rhythm Tap techniques. Cutting edge instructors train with the best in the world in this field and share their expertise with all our Tap students. At the most advanced levels, rhythm Tap style is the priority.

POM PON
Classes offer a Jazz style program with an emphasis on performance with pompons. This class is suggested for the student interested in cheer/dance

THEATRE DEPARTMENT
The Star Maker theatre department offers students ages 5 through adult classes in monolog, scene study, improvisation, commercial, film, and musical theatre. Students of this program can boast leads in local school plays and county theatrical productions, pageant titles, national commercial work, Perry awards, as well as professional theatrical opportunities including Broadway and national tours.

PILATES
Pilates exercise programs are offered to enhance the advanced dancers strength and flexibility. Pilates is used to keep an advanced dancer strong and safe.

RESIDENT PERFORMANCE COMPANY
The SMS Entertainers Dance Company, founded as EBDC in 1975, is the resident company and performing unit of the Star Maker School. Made up of girls and boys between the ages of 5 and 24, the Entertainers offers competitive and performance opportunities in all areas of dance, theatrical, vocal, baton and acrobatics at the local, state, regional and national levels. Participation is by invitation only. National champions numerous times, the Entertainers perform in many venues; Nets and 76'ers Halftimes, Garden State Bowl Game, Julliard School of Music, Lincoln Center Opera, Gian Carlo Minotti, The World's Fair, Disney World and Universal Studios. They also perform locally at nursing homes, hospitals, parades and grand openings.

SMS PRO-KIDS
Star Maker also offers programs to teach the public about the professional world of show business for youth. We help students gain an insight and guide them into the professional world thru management and agencies in the NYC area. We offer them support and aid as they continue training while pursuing careers in commercial work, TV, Film and Broadway.

PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS
Through our affiliation with the professional performance industry, Star Maker offers open casting calls for various professional projects. We invite all our students to audition and participate in these opportunities. For example; In 2005-06 students participated in 'Hip Hop Homeroom,' a children's video released worldwide to help teach math skills to kids ages 3-6. In 2006, 2007 and 2008 many SMS students participated in an open call for models and 16 were ultimately chosen to work professionally.
